Waste of money
I actually didn't buy this off of Amazon but the website directly. DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS! It doesn't sharpen knives at all. It's a plastic piece of junk. I had big hopes that this would be the answer for all my dull kitchen knives. Instead, when I tried to sharpen my scissors on it, they turned out worse and now the scissors won't even cut anything. Additionally, the guarantee claims if you're not 100% satisfied you can send it back but that's less than the shipping and processing fee (again - from the original website - not Amazon) so basically by the time I ship it back to them (which would cost me $5-10) I'm netting $10.00 for a product I spent $30.00 of which $15.00 is shipping and processing fees. (I also got the "free" Chef's knife but there was an additional ship and processing charge on top of the other ship and proc. charge for the sharpener) It's a good reminder to me why I never buy anything from the infomercials.
Doesn't work
I have 3 or 4 other sharpeners and had hoped that this one would really do a good job. It doesn't. The only thing that did work as advertised is the suction feature to keep it in place on the work surface. I tried to sharpen 5 knives, it seemed to work only on the tip of the knife, not all the way to the handle. This was a waste of money and not worth spending more to return it.
SO DISAPPOINTED!!!!
I have never purchased a product endorsed by anyone before. Because of Chef Irvine's reputation I figured this knife sharpener would be a great tool. I am a Floral Designer and thought this would be perfect to sharpen my floral knife with Valentine's Day coming up. I tried it at home first on my kitchen knives and it didn't seem to sharpen them. I figured I was using it incorrectly so I brought it to the flower shop and had my coworkers try it. We couldn't get the vacuum seal to work on any surface. Our knives became duller than ever! We figure Chef Irvine should come sharpen our knives personally or at the least cook us some food for our inconvience! It just didn't work.
