Tiger JNP-S18U Electric 10-Cups (Uncooked) Rice Cooker and Warmer with Stainless Steel Finish

RE: Poor Quality
I purchased this model less than a month ago. I used it three times and the switch button melted. Since it's still under warranty,
I sent it to Tiger Corp. for repair. (I paid for the shipping cost to Tiger :( ). Tiger sent back the rice cooker with a note stating that they had replaced the heater, center thermo, switch unit, temperature fuse and temperature reading system. I used it once after I got it back and the switch button melted again and the there's no power. I HIGHLY DO NOT recommend this messed up unit. BEWARE!!!TIGER JNPS18U RICE COOKER 10 CUP

Excellent Rice Cooker
Everyone in Chinatown recommended a Tiger rice cooker. Our friend let us borrow their Tiger rice cooker. We cooked Jasmine rice from Thailand in it. It was amazing; just like eating at the best Chinese restaurant. No more Minute Rice for us! I did a search and found the lowest price on Amazon. We've been using this for 5 months now with no problems and have cooked 50 pounds of rice. Clean up is easy. Just follow the directions.

20FEB2013 UPDATE: Have been using this weekly for 2 years now. No problems like others report. Lid still seals properly and rice cooks just like it should. Also, I carry this by the lid handle about 15 feet to the counter each time I use it and no broken hinges or handle. Cord still retracts fully. I'm still 100% happy with it.

Not durable
Made good fluffy rice, BUT very bad quality rice cooker. After just a couple of months of use, closing the lid was difficult as it did not stay closed. If got it closed, it would pop up open while cooking. The hinges so flimpsy !

Would not buy this brand again. Will try zojirushi next time. Hope it is not another disappointment.

I owned a Panasonic that it is still working, 17 years of daily use. Gave it away few years back to get the stainless steel Tiger. BIG mistake!
